A picture is worth a thousand words, but your printed media only allows so much space to inform your customer about your product or service and create that all important call to action. Mobile Data Systems offers a choice of technologies that can allow you to get more traction from your printed media and provide a “jump-off” point for your target customer to learn more about your product.

One technology that can enable interactivity with traditional media is the bar code. Familiar in appearance and in purpose, the bar code is a very obvious and easy means to link printed media with web-based messaging. Printing a unique bar code such as a QR code (shown at right) on your printed media encoded with a link to a designated web page provides your audience with access to additional information, creates opportunities for impulse purchases, sales promotions, or whatever marketing message you desire.

The alternative technology for bringing interactivity to printed media is digital watermarking. These invisible watermarks can be embedded in any printed media, similar to bar codes. However, because watermarks are undetected by the unaided eye, watermarks can be replicated across an entire media so that any area of the encoded print can include the link to desired web-based messaging.
